Shehani Therese
Shehani attained her Bachelors of Music in Performing from the University of the Visual and Performing Arts, Sri Lanka. She has also completed her Grade 8 Classical Piano and Music Theory examinations in Trinity College London, as well as in ABRSM.
With experience teaching Music in prestigious schools in UAE and in Sri Lanka, Shehani has worked closely with children of various ages, cultures and backgrounds since 2012, aiming to encourage them to broaden their skills, knowledge, and confidence. Currently, Shehani is adding to her wealth of experience by studying a Masters of Music in Classical Piano at the Australian Institute of Music.
Shehani comes from a musical background, with her great-grand father Mr. Norbert Rodrigo being a composer, organist, pianist, violinist and vocalist, while her grandfather and father were piano tuners and technicians and her mother was the first female piano technician of Sri Lanka. Shehani has learned piano since age 4, performing Baroque, Classical and Romantic piano repertoire and extending to Bollywood music and Sinhala music, performing with the Dubai Gospel Choir at the Dubai Opera House and also with the Expo 2020 World Choir.
Shehani is also available to teach beginner-intermediate guitar students in both modern and classical styles.
